Pure Matrimony | Couples Therapy

Maritza practices EFT to help couples acheive deeper connection and lasting love.

Why EFT?

Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT was created by Dr. Sue Johnson. You can find more information about her and her work here. Emotionally focused therapy has been highly researched and found to show significant positive results for the majority of couples. EFT has also proven effective with couples under high amounts of distress as a result of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The listed stats are based on an avg of 10 - 12 sessions.

What to expect

Whether you've been in therapy before or not, it can be nice to have a basic overview of what to expect when you come in for your first appointment.

1

A Warm Welcome

First things first, a warm welcome and a relaxed environment are the first thing you'll experience. I want couples to feel welcome and accepted when they come to therapy. This setting is not about who is right and who is wrong, it is about your relationship and its needs.

2

Assessment

Once the session begins, we will discuss any questions you may have and I will ask you questions about what brought you in to therapy, what the major struggles are in your relationship, and what you would like to get out of therapy.

3

Next Steps (aka "see you next week")

At the end of the session, I will check in with each of you about your experience in session and ask if you'd like to continue therapy. If you choose to continue, I will let you know when to come back for your next appointment (hint: see you next week). If you choose not to continue, I will provide you with referrals for other local therapists who may be a better fit.
